About Joe
I'm Joe, an 18-year-old gap year student who is set to study a BSc in Economics at the University of Leeds next year. Economics was my favourite subject, so I put a lot of effort into perfecting my knowledge and exam technique. I was pleased to have achieved an A* in Economics after my hard work, after getting a C in my Mock - so feel I could definitely help students who just need that extra guidance to achieve their potential. I'm friendly, patient and approachable and I aim to make lessons enjoyable while helping students build both their confidence and exam technique.

My approach to tutoring is to make Economics lessons friendly, engaging and tailored to each student. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, while gradually building their confidence and understanding of the subject. Alongside understanding the content, I place a strong focus on exam technique — helping students apply economic theory to real-world examples, make effective use of extracts and data, and develop clear, well-structured answers. I can also help students with longer 25-mark questions, focusing on building strong chains of analysis, evaluation and a well-developed conclusion. I’ll share useful resources and tools along the way and work with each student to find an approach that suits them, whether they’re looking to improve their grades, strengthen their exam technique or simply feel more confident in Economics.
