About Reid
I am a flute tutor with 7 years of teaching experience, having guided over 150 students to develop their musical skills. My lessons are designed to be engaging, personalised, and effective. I focus on breath control, tone quality, finger technique, and rhythm, while also encouraging improvisation and expressive playing. I adapt every lesson to suit the student’s learning style, ensuring steady progress and a sense of achievement.
Alongside performance skills, I teach music theory, sight-reading, and ensemble techniques to give students a well-rounded musical education. My teaching philosophy is centred on inspiring confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love for music, helping students grow into both skilled and passionate musicians.

I teach flute using a methodology that emphasises adaptability, collaboration, and a positive learning atmosphere. Recognising that every student learns differently, I tailor lessons to their learning style, pace, and musical interests. This ensures that lessons remain engaging, challenging, and effective.
Flexibility allows me to modify lesson plans, exercises, and repertoire to match each student’s progress and goals. Collaboration is a key element of my teaching, with students engaging in duets, group activities, and performance exercises to strengthen their timing, listening skills, and confidence.
Positivity is at the heart of my approach, creating an encouraging environment where students are motivated to explore, experiment, and enjoy their musical journey.
Alongside flute instruction, I teach complementary subjects such as music theory, ear training, sight-reading, and rhythm exercises. My methodology balances technical skill development with creative expression, helping students become well-rounded, confident, and expressive musicians.
