About Valerie

I have 12 years of experience teaching chess and hold a Bachelor’s in Mathematics and a Master’s in Educational Strategy. My academic studies strengthened my understanding of logical systems and effective teaching approaches. I have trained students preparing for competitions as well as those learning for personal development.

I believe chess learning should be both challenging and encouraging. I carefully adjust lesson difficulty based on each student’s ability. Clear explanations and structured exercises allow learners to build confidence gradually. Watching students improve their concentration and strategic thinking motivates me greatly.

I continue studying classical and modern games to stay informed about evolving strategies. Chess remains a strong intellectual passion in my life. I am dedicated to guiding students towards disciplined thinking, consistent improvement, and greater confidence at the board.

About the lesson

My chess lessons focus on building clear strategic thinking and disciplined decision-making. I begin by teaching strong opening principles such as centre control, piece coordination, and king safety. Students learn how to evaluate positions calmly before making moves. I explain each concept step by step so learners understand the reasoning behind every action. Early lessons focus on avoiding simple mistakes and recognising common patterns.

As students advance, we explore tactical themes including forks, pins, discovered attacks, and defensive techniques. I encourage puzzle solving to strengthen calculation skills and pattern recognition. We also study endgames carefully, focusing on king activity, pawn promotion, and rook coordination. After practice games, I guide students through detailed analysis to identify strengths and areas for improvement. This review process strengthens understanding and confidence.

My goal is to help learners remain focused and patient during games. Chess teaches discipline, planning, and emotional control. With consistent practice and structured feedback, students develop sharper awareness and stronger performance. I create a respectful environment where improvement feels steady and achievable.
