About Cari

I am an IP and SP teacher. My goal is to create a
classroom that caters to all my learners' needs and to
have a motivated and hardworking environment for
them to grow and learn. I will do this by using all the
knowledge that I have gained in the last 4 years. I see
myself as a hardworking and loyal person that will
ensure that my learners' physical and emotional
wellbeing is well cared for. I am a team player that
believes in equal education for all and carries my
values and beliefs with me. I am an honest and
determined person and I love to learn new things.

About the lesson

My Afrikaans lessons are learner-centred, engaging, and interactive, creating a supportive environment where all learners are encouraged to participate confidently. Lessons are carefully planned with clear learning objectives and are aligned with the CAPS curriculum.

Each lesson begins with an engaging introduction to activate learners' prior knowledge and introduce the topic. Learners participate in a variety of activities that develop their listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and language skills. These activities include group discussions, pair work, role-playing, games, reading comprehension, vocabulary-building exercises, grammar activities, and creative writing tasks.

A variety of teaching resources, such as visual aids, digital media, worksheets, stories, songs, and real-life examples, are used to make learning meaningful and enjoyable. Differentiated activities and support are provided to accommodate learners with different abilities and learning styles.

Formative assessment is integrated throughout each lesson through questioning, observation, class discussions, peer assessment, and short written tasks. Constructive feedback is provided to help learners improve their language skills and build confidence in using Afrikaans in everyday situations.

Each lesson concludes with a summary of the key concepts, learner reflection, and opportunities to consolidate learning through revision or homework activities. My goal is to create a positive classroom atmosphere where learners develop a strong understanding of Afrikaans while fostering a lifelong appreciation for the language.
