About Kristen
My legitimacy comes from a deep, focused specialization. I have dedicated my career to mastering acrylic mediums and using them to champion the beauty of Black culture and Black women. This isn’t a generalized hobby; it is a refined craft. When I teach you how to layer a specific skin tone or capture the light on a silhouette, I am sharing techniques that I use daily in my own professional studio.

Technique is vital, but vision is what makes you an artist. My teaching style is deeply rooted in representation and storytelling. Whether we are painting a portrait or an abstract piece, I focus on:
Championing Beauty: Finding the grace in our subjects and highlighting the strength in every stroke.
Creative Confidence: Moving past the "ugly phase" of a painting to find the breakthrough.
Tools You’ll Need
To get the most out of our time, you’ll want a basic acrylic starter kit:
Primary Palette: Heavy body acrylics (Red, Blue, Yellow, Black, and a lot of Titanium White).
Brushes: A mix of flats, filberts, and a fine-point liner for the details.
Surface: Stretched canvas or heavy-duty acrylic paper
