About Shannan

I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education K-6 with a teachers of students with disabilities endorsement in May 2020 at Kean University and my Master’s degree in the Special Education Sequence for Applied Behavior Analysis program at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey in December 2021.

Since 2021, I have been a teacher of students with autism and other severe disabilities at the Deron School in Union, New Jersey. I have taught in a 6th-8th grade classroom. In the 2019-2020 school year, I completed my Clinical 1 and Clinical 2 student teaching at Deerfield Terrace (School 9) Elementary School in Linden, New Jersey. I taught in a second grade classroom. I have also completed a semester of clinical experience at Johnnie L Cochran Academy in East Orange, New Jersey teaching in a third grade classroom. I completed my sophomore field in 2017 at the Developmental Learning Center in Warren, New Jersey in an intermediate classroom. During these experiences I conducted skill acquisition based assessments using ABLLS-R and AFLS, developed individualized education plans, created and implemented behavior analytics programming and analyzed student academic and behavior data through visual grids and line graphs. Furthermore, I have managed and trained staff on skills to work with students and collaborated with related service and other professionals on a daily basis.

My additional qualifications include working as the Preschool teacher at the Come, Play, and Learn Early Childhood Learning Center in Cranford, New Jersey and holding a substitute certification in Middlesex County and Linden, New Jersey. I am also completing fieldwork to become a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA). I anticipate my fieldwork being completed by June 2023 and taking the exam by August 2023.

About the lesson

I am a special education teacher who takes pride in making my lessons interactive, hands-on, and maximizing in fun!

Experiments in the kitchen, learning to use a microwave, generalizing numbers, letters and words, and making the most of the time we have together!
