About Marlon
Hi, I’m Marlon. I’m a native Tagalog speaker with a passion for helping others learn the language in a way that feels natural and approachable. My goal as a tutor is to create a comfortable and supportive environment where students feel confident practicing, asking questions, and improving at their own pace.
I bring real teaching experience to my lessons, having worked as a substitute teacher, tutor, and high school teacher. This background has helped me develop strong communication skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly to students from different backgrounds and skill levels. I also hold a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) certificate, which helps me better understand the learning process for English speakers studying a new language.
Students who work with me can expect lessons that are structured, engaging, and focused on real progress. I take preparation seriously and always aim to make each session clear, productive, and enjoyable. At the same time, I keep the learning environment relaxed and friendly so students feel comfortable speaking and making mistakes—because that’s how real learning happens.
Whether you're just starting with Tagalog or looking to improve your conversational skills, I’m committed to helping you build confidence and develop practical language skills that you can actually use in real life.

My name is Marlon, and I help students learn Tagalog in a natural, practical, and confidence-building way. My teaching style focuses on real communication rather than memorizing long vocabulary lists or complicated grammar rules. I believe language is best learned the way people actually use it—through conversation, storytelling, and cultural context.
I also bring real classroom experience to my lessons. I have worked as a:
* Substitute teacher
* Tutor
* High school teacher
This experience has helped me understand how different students learn and how to adapt lessons so they are clear, engaging, and effective. I also hold a **TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) certificate**, which allows me to better support English speakers learning a new language.
**My teaching method focuses on:**
* Conversational learning so students start speaking early
* Clear pronunciation and listening practice
* Practical vocabulary used in everyday situations
* Cultural context so students understand how Tagalog is naturally spoken
**A typical lesson may include:**
* A short warm-up conversation or review from the previous lesson
* Learning new vocabulary and simple sentence structures
* Guided conversation practice
* Pronunciation tips and listening exercises
* Role-playing real-life situations like introducing yourself, ordering food, or talking with family members
What sets my lessons apart is that they are relaxed, interactive, and focused on real communication. I encourage students to speak often and not worry about making mistakes. With my background in communication and storytelling, I try to explain things in ways that are easy to understand and remember.
**My lessons are ideal for:**
* Complete beginners
* Travelers visiting the Philippines
* Heritage learners wanting to reconnect with family language
* Anyone interested in Filipino culture and everyday Tagalog conversation
Whether your goal is to have basic conversations, prepare for travel, or build confidence speaking Tagalog, my goal is to help you learn in a way that feels natural, practical, and enjoyable.
