About Junko
Hi, I’m Junko, a Japanese language coach originally from Yokohama, Japan.
I have lived in the United States for about 25 years and have worked as a professional Japanese linguist for approximately 20 years, mainly in the entertainment industry. My work has included Japanese subtitles, dubbing, translation, and quality control for movies and TV shows.
Because of my professional background, I have spent many years paying close attention to how Japanese is actually spoken, how meaning is conveyed naturally, and how small differences in wording, pronunciation, and tone can affect communication.
Now, I use that experience to help Japanese learners communicate more naturally and confidently.
Whether you are a complete beginner or already have a strong foundation in Japanese, I’ll meet you where you are and help you take the next step.

My lessons focus on helping you speak Japanese naturally and confidently in real-life situations.
Have you ever studied Japanese for years but still found it difficult to speak when you actually meet a Japanese person? Maybe you know a lot of vocabulary and grammar, but the words just don’t come out when you need them.
That’s where I can help.
Rather than focusing only on textbooks and grammar, I help you build practical speaking skills through repetition, listening, pronunciation practice, and real-life conversation.
We’ll work with Japanese phrases you can actually use in everyday situations—at restaurants, convenience stores, hotels, shops, or when talking with Japanese friends and colleagues.
My goal is not simply to help you “study Japanese.” I want to help you feel comfortable, natural, and free to be yourself when speaking Japanese.
