• Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

  I speak Vietnamese fluently because it is my native language. Growing up in a Vietnamese-speaking environment, I naturally learned the language and deeply understood the culture, mindset, and lifestyle of Vietnamese people.

• Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  One person who represents Vietnamese culture is President Hồ Chí Minh. He was not only a great leader but also a multilingual scholar who played a key role in promoting Vietnamese culture and values to the world.

• Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

  I love the word "ạ" in Vietnamese. This simple word expresses respect, politeness, and warmth. Also, the rich system of pronouns in Vietnamese reflects the relationships between speakers, something unique compared to many other languages.

• Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  Vietnamese is not just a communication tool but a vital part of our national identity. Teaching Vietnamese helps foreigners not only speak the language but also understand the culture, people, and daily life in Vietnam.

• What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

  The biggest challenge is the six-tone system, where mispronouncing a tone can change the meaning of a word. To overcome this, I encourage learners to practice listening, imitate native speakers, and use real-life situations to get used to the tones naturally.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  One of my most memorable moments was teaching a foreigner who knew nothing about Vietnamese. At first, pronunciation and grammar were difficult for them, but with practice, they gained confidence and started speaking basic Vietnamese. Seeing their progress was incredibly rewarding for me.

• How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  Traveling has helped me understand different learning styles. Meeting Vietnamese learners from various countries showed me that each person has a unique way of learning. This experience helped me refine my teaching methods to suit individual needs.

• What makes you a Superprof in language?

  I don't just teach Vietnamese-I help learners understand the culture, customs, and real-life communication. I create an engaging and practical learning environment, encouraging students to practice confidently. My patience, dedication, and flexible teaching approach make me a great Superprof!
