About Tamaryn Chantelle

Hello! I’m Teacher Tam, a native English speaker from South Africa. I’m an experienced TEFL teacher, holding a 168-hour TEFL certificate, and I’ve dedicated myself to helping students discover the joy of learning English.
I also have a bachelor's degree in administration, with a major in industrial psychology, which gives me a unique perspective on effective communication and understanding student needs. Teaching is my passion, and I strive to create engaging and supportive learning environments where students can thrive.
In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, exploring new travel destinations, and spending time at the beach. These hobbies not only bring me joy but also inspire me to share diverse experiences with my students.

About the lesson

During my year in Hanoi, Vietnam, I had the privilege of teaching students from various age groups, ranging from young children to adults. This experience not only enriched my teaching skills but also allowed me to appreciate the diverse ways in which different age groups engage with language learning.
My teaching methodology centres around communicative language teaching, emphasizing practical communication and real-life interactions. I believe that language learning should be enjoyable and relevant, so I incorporate interactive activities, role-plays, and discussions into my lessons. This approach helps students gain confidence and encourages them to use English in everyday situations.
I developed expertise in teaching conversational English and English for beginners. For my beginner students, I focused on building a solid foundation in vocabulary and basic grammar, using engaging materials and visuals to enhance comprehension. With my conversational students, I aimed to improve their speaking and listening skills through dynamic discussions, games, and authentic materials that reflect real-life contexts.
Throughout my time in Hanoi, I was committed to creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students felt comfortable taking risks and expressing themselves in English. Witnessing their progress and newfound confidence was incredibly rewarding and solidified my passion for teaching.
Overall, my teaching experience in Hanoi was transformative, allowing me to connect with diverse learners and deepen my understanding of effective language instruction.
