About Melissa
Hi! I’m Melissa. I’m 25, originally from Peru, and currently on the journey to getting my architecture license — soon I’ll be able to officially add “Architect” to my name, which is pretty exciting! I’m passionate about traveling, staying active, and exploring different cultures (especially through their food!). I love connecting with people from all over the world and believe there’s always something new to learn and share.
I moved to the U.S. when I was 17, and that’s when I really experienced what it means to learn a new language. English completely changed my life. It opened doors I never imagined and gave me the chance to grow in so many ways. Thanks to that, I’ve been able to travel to different countries and connect with people without any language barriers. It’s been amazing.
That’s why I’m such a big believer that anyone can learn a new language with the right mix of support, consistency, and patience. I’m here to help you feel confident, comfortable, and excited to start learning Spanish; or as we say, ¡a aprender español!

I always like to start my classes with a song or small video to set up a good mood. After, I like to ask my student if something stood out from the song/video, always making him/her the priority. Once we have establish what the need of my student, I tie it up to my agenda of the day, which usually would be:
- Learn about the pronouns
- Learn about the verb to be
- Learn about conjugations, etc
I would establish my agenda based on the needs and interests of my students.
I strongly believe that a good teacher is set apart by the level of enthusiasm, empathy, and care for the students, which is what I always try to be when teaching.
I have thought i high schools before. I was a spanish tutor in my college and helped with the Spanish club as well.
