About Alexandra

Teaching has been a passion of mine for years now. For me it is rewarding to see my students grasp the learning and achieve their goals. It really just shows me I have done my job correctly.

I have 2 children and since birth all they have known is Spanish. My eldest is now 2 years and 9 months and currently speaks fluent Spanish to me at home. My youngest who is 9 months and all I speak to her is Spanish. It is a proud achievement to know my eldest is able to speak and understand the mother tongue. They also spend quite a bit of time with their great-grandparents and grandparents so all they are exposed to is Spanish which helps them a tonne. As a proud mother of this achievement, I now wish to pass on this skill onto other children who wish to learn as it is an amazing language to learn.

About the lesson

Hi,

My name is Alexandra, but everyone calls me Alex. I am in my mid 20's. I was born in the UK but my family are from Galicia, Spain. I speak fluent Spanish. As my family couldn't speak much English and I spent a lot of time with my grandparents, all I spoke was Spanish till school age. At home, however, I still spoke Spanish regardless. Now I am older I take care of my grandparents' medicals and any letters due to the language barrier.

From the age of 5 till 16 I went to Spanish school twice a week in a school in Portobello, Ladbroke Grove where I was taught to strengthen my communication and language as well as my reading and writing. I also did my GCSE in secondary for Spanish. In 2024 I graduated at university with a BA (Hons) in Education Studies. I have been working and gaining experience in schools and nurseries since the age of 16.
