About Riley

I am a passionate flute tutor with over 11 years of experience teaching students from school, college, and professional backgrounds. My teaching approach is structured, patient, and focused on building strong fundamentals. I begin with breathing control, posture correction, embouchure strength, finger coordination, and rhythm accuracy.

Once students develop confidence, I introduce articulation techniques, dynamics, and expressive playing. Along with flute training, I teach music theory, sight reading, scale practice, rhythm exercises, and ear training to ensure complete musical understanding. I customise my lessons according to each student’s learning style and goals.

My unique strength is helping students achieve a clear tone and smooth finger movement through simple practice methods. I also guide students in preparing for exams and stage performances. My goal is to develop confident and expressive flute players.

About the lesson

My flute teaching methodology is built on Adaptation to Learning Styles, Flexibility, Collaboration, and Positivity. I believe that every student has the ability to develop strong musical skills when guided with patience and clarity.

I begin by identifying each student’s learning style. Some students understand better through demonstration, while others prefer structured explanations or repeated listening. Based on this, I design personalised lesson plans.

Flute training starts with building a clear tone through proper breath control and embouchure formation. I focus on posture, finger positioning, articulation clarity, and rhythm accuracy. Once the fundamentals are strong, I introduce scales, phrasing techniques, dynamic control, and expressive playing.

Flexibility allows me to adjust lessons depending on student goals, whether preparing for exams, performances, or learning for personal enjoyment. I carefully monitor progress and modify exercises when needed.

Collaboration is encouraged through interactive discussions and shared goal setting. Students are motivated to take responsibility for their practice routine.

Positivity creates a supportive environment where mistakes become learning opportunities. Along with flute, I also teach music theory, rhythm training, sight-reading, ear training, and stage performance preparation.
