About Zara
I’m a guitar tutor with over 3 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Science in Audio Engineering, with a guitar focus. I specialise in jazz and blues improvisation, helping students discover their own musical voice.
My lessons are supportive, engaging, and goal-oriented, designed for school students, hobbyists, and professional musicians alike. I teach modal scales, arpeggios, dominant seventh theory, and bebop phrasing to develop expressive improvisation skills.
I work with intermediate and advanced learners, including those preparing for gigs and performances. Lessons combine technique, theory, and creative expression, helping students improvise confidently.
We explore phrasing, melodic ideas, and spontaneous soloing. I encourage experimentation to cultivate a personal and unique style.

My teaching approach focuses on practical music theory for guitarists. I cover scales, modes, chord construction, and harmonic analysis, showing students how theory directly applies to the fretboard. Lessons are hands-on and structured.
Students practise connecting scales and chords, improvising, and analysing harmonies while applying theory to solos, riffs, and compositions. I emphasise understanding patterns and encourage experimentation and creative expression.
I work with Aspiring Rock Stars and Classical Purists, tailoring exercises to individual goals. Lessons combine theory, technique, and application to develop fluent, expressive playing. Together, we build a foundation for improvisation, composition, and confident musical expression.
