About Colton
I discovered the guitar as a teenager and quickly became captivated by its versatility and emotional range. Over the past 7 years of teaching, I’ve had the joy of helping students grow into confident and expressive musicians. Watching learners find their unique sound and develop their musical identity is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a guitar teacher. I teach with patience, enthusiasm, and adaptability. I value creating a supportive learning space where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring their artistic interests. I tailor lessons to match each student’s personality, goals, and preferred learning style — whether structured and goal-oriented or creative and exploratory. My approach ensures progress feels steady, enjoyable, and personally meaningful. Beyond teaching, I continue to expand my musicianship by learning new techniques, studying different genres, and collaborating with other artists. Music has shaped my life, and sharing that inspiration with students is truly fulfilling. Guiding others in their musical journey reminds me daily of the joy and connection that music brings into our lives.

My guitar lessons are designed to make learning music enjoyable, expressive, and accessible for everyone. I believe students learn best when they feel encouraged to explore, make music they love, and connect with the instrument on a personal level. Lessons create an atmosphere where curiosity, creativity, and steady growth work hand in hand to build both skill and confidence.
Beginners learn chords, strumming patterns, finger placement, rhythm, and how to play recognizable songs at a comfortable pace. Intermediate students explore fingerstyle, riffs, barre chords, improvisation, scales, and playing across genres such as pop, rock, blues, or acoustic. Advanced learners can develop artistry, performance skills, soloing technique, and musical interpretation, with the option to work on songwriting or arranging music. Each lesson blends technique, song-based learning, and creative exploration tailored to student goals.
Students often leave lessons feeling energized and motivated, excited to continue practicing at home. My aim is not only to help learners play guitar skillfully, but also to develop personal style, creativity, and a lasting love for music. Guitar becomes a meaningful outlet for expression, relaxation, and connection.
