About Anupama

I am a Sitarist teaching Lucknow Shahjehanpur Baaz of the Senia Gharana on sitar for over 25 years. I have worked with the DAV, India's most prestigious college chain. I have performed on stage invariably including Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan. Apart from teaching both ways i.e. really and online, I keep on arranging concerts for new talents to come forward for the stage performances and get known for their talent. I am an accredited lecturer by the University Grant Commission of India in addition to M.Phil in Sitar from Punjab University. I have my formal education in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music as well at the undergraduate level from the Punjab University.

About the lesson

Having completed my formal education in Sitar over a period of some 10 years, I am nurturing this art by teaching it for the last 27 years. Teaching internationally has made my experience vast, as I cater to students from diverse cultures. Music has to be done practically, but I support students with the theory and written part as and when they need it. I love my profession as it is my hobby as well. So, I keep no reservations in imparting knowledge I received from my Gurus. Apart from this I take Music Theory classes if anybody asks. My medium of instruction are English, Hindi and Punjabi.

Perfect! Anupama is very patient and knowledgeable. My daughter had never played the sitar before and she has been teaching her the basics to start with. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to learn to play the sitar.

She is patient and explains thing clearly. She put me at ease and helped me tune my Sitar, which isn't of great quality.
