About Olive
Hi! I’m a passionate singing tutor with over 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Voice. I love helping students build vocal confidence, overcome performance anxiety, and connect deeply with the songs they sing. My teaching covers a variety of styles, including Pop, Indie, R&B, and Contemporary Worship, allowing students to explore their unique sound. I focus on breath control, expressive phrasing, vocal health, and techniques for live performance, ensuring every student feels prepared and empowered. I have experience working with shy beginners, confident teen performers, and aspiring recording artists, tailoring lessons to each individual’s goals. My approach combines technical skill with creative expression, helping students discover their personal style. Through guided practice, improvisation, and performance coaching, I encourage students to take risks and embrace their voice. I use engaging exercises and repertoire that are both fun and challenging. Watching my students grow as singers and performers is my greatest joy. Every lesson is designed to make learning rewarding and enjoyable. I believe everyone can find their unique voice. For The Adult Beginner, we begin by exploring their natural vocal tone, focusing on breath control and pitch accuracy. Simple exercises help them gain confidence while developing a comfortable range. They engage in vocal tone shaping, learning how to add warmth, brightness, or edge to their voice. Song interpretation sessions guide them in expressing emotion through lyrics, while storytelling through music encourages personal connection to each piece. Genre exploration—from pop to jazz to classical—allows them to discover styles that resonate with their voice and personality. Improvisation exercises nurture creativity, helping them experiment without fear. Tools like lyric analysis sheets and vocal journals enable reflection and track progress. For The Advanced Teen, sessions focus on refining their vocal identity and expanding technical skills. Tone shaping now includes dynamic control, resonance, and stylistic nuances. They deepen song interpretation with complex phrasing, emotional depth, and character embodiment. Storytelling through music becomes a platform for personal artistic expression. They explore multiple genres to push versatility and innovate their sound. Improvisation and composition exercises challenge creativity and stage presence. Using DAWs and melody trainers, they can record, analyse, and refine performances. Both personas benefit from structured reflection, regular feedback, and encouraging experimentation.
