About Laurie
Holding a Master of Arts in Music Education does not mean I think singing is purely about rigid rules or perfect scales. Most people assume that great vocal health requires absolute silence, but I find that active, intelligent use of the instrument is actually much safer. I rely on my 13 years of experience to guide advanced learners and working professionals toward better vibrato control and improved diction. My background involves blending vocal health, range extension, and microphone technique into a holistic practice.
I often incorporate elements from my work with newcomer families, using rhythm and song to help students feel more comfortable with their own sound. Whether we are tackling sight singing or performance confidence, I prioritize the physical reality of the voice. Walking into a first session often feels intimidating, yet the most important thing you can do is simply make a sound without judgment. I believe that your voice is a living, breathing tool that requires attention to daily habits rather than just occasional intensity. We start by establishing a foundation of vocal health that allows you to sing comfortably for longer durations. I share recorded warm up routines specifically for your daily home practice to ensure you stay consistent between our meetings.
My Master of Arts in Music Education informs how I approach your diction and articulation during complex performance pieces. We will work together to build your confidence and refine your technique in a way that feels natural to your style. I am committed to making sure every session provides a clear path forward for your singing journey.
