About Tk
I have been teaching Plus-Two Physics for over fifty years. For thirty-five of those (1977–2012), I was the Senior Physics Teacher and Head of the Plus-Two Department at St. Thomas' Boys' School, Kidderpore, Kolkata.
I am the author of an ISC Physics workbook used by Class XI and XII candidates, and I have appeared as a Physics subject-matter expert on Doordarshan Bangla's nationally telecast pre-board revision program.
Over the same decades I have led teacher-training and student workshops in Physics at top schools across India. This includes both theory & practical classes.

My students
I teach Class XI and Class XII Physics — for the ISC and CBSE boards.
Whether your child is aiming for a top board score or building the conceptual base for engineering entrance exams, my classes are planned around what they actually need.
My approach
My teaching is concept-first. I do not begin a chapter with the formula — I begin with where the formula comes from.
The diagrams are drawn live on the screen, the derivations are walked through step by step, and only then do I solve lots of numericals and give assignments for your child's practice.
A student who understands one concept properly is in far better shape than one who has memorized ten formulae without seeing the physics behind them.
What sets my classes apart is the time I spend on board-answer technique — the style of answer the boards reward. Forty years of close engagement with how senior-school Physics is examined in India has taught me exactly which steps fetch the marks, and which gaps cost candidates the most. That working knowledge helps in every chapter I cover.
A typical class
A class with me usually runs for one hour and is structured like this:
- Diagnose — your child tells me what is troubling them. I ask a question or two to find out where the gap actually is (it is rarely where the student thinks).
- Concept and derivation — we build the idea from first principles, with diagrams drawn live.
- Solved example — I work through one problem fully, narrating the logic.
- Their attempt — your child solves a problem under guidance.
- Board-answer debrief — we cover how to present the answer cleanly for the boards.
I am happy to teach in English, Hindi or Bengali — whichever your child is most comfortable thinking in. The first class is free;
we use it to figure out the right starting point and plan the rest from there.
