About Jaafar
I'm Jaafar, a corporate finance professional based in Dubai working in FP&A for a private-equity-backed group. Before that, I spent years in transaction services at Deloitte and in M&A advisory at Oderis Consulting, working on around ten deals across tech/SaaS, industrial, leisure and luxury retail buy-side and sell-side, up to €200m in enterprise value. I hold an MSc in Finance from emlyon Business School and a degree from ENCG Casablanca. I teach financial modeling in Excel the way it's actually practiced in M&A and private equity not as a spreadsheet tutorial, but as the core craft of the job.

My approach rests on one principle: you learn modeling by building, not by watching. From the first lesson, you're in Excel with your hands on the keyboard, building a model from a blank sheet rather than filling in a pre-made template. Templates hide the logic; building from scratch is what makes the logic stick.
I work from real, market-grade cases modeling a listed company from its published accounts, constructing a business plan, building an LBO so that every technique is anchored in a concrete deal situation rather than an abstract exercise. Alongside the mechanics, I transmit the professional standards that separate a clean model from a fragile one: consistent structure, colour and formatting conventions, no hard-coded numbers buried in formulas, built-in error checks, and keyboard-driven speed. These are the habits that get noticed in an internship or an interview test.
I also teach progressively and adapt to your pace: we move from the mechanics of a three-statement model, to linking the statements, to scenarios and sensitivities, then to valuation (DCF, trading and transaction multiples) and finally to LBO logic. At each stage, you build, I give direct feedback on your own work, and we correct together — because reviewing a model line by line is where the real understanding happens.
