About Dora
I am an experienced educator, academic mentor and life coach with over eighteen years of teaching across mainstream, independent and SEN settings. I hold an MA in Special and Inclusive Education (UCL), an MA in Human Rights (Birkbeck, University of London) and a PGCE from the University of Gloucestershire, with additional IPSEA training in SEND law.
I specialise in 7+, 11+ / ISEB, 13+ and GCSE preparation, as well as supporting students with autism, ADHD, PDA and anxiety, fostering both academic excellence and lifelong learning skills.
I have worked with pupils from leading schools including (but not limited to) WCCS, Francis Holland, Queen’s Gate, Wellington College, Charterhouse and UCS, helping many gain places at Eton, St Paul’s, Winchester and Wellington College. My approach combines academic rigour with holistic mentoring, developing confidence, analytical thinking and resilience through tailored programmes.

My teaching approach is holistic, student-centred and rooted in the belief that confidence and curiosity are the foundations of lasting academic success. I strive to create a calm, structured and empathetic learning environment where pupils feel safe to take risks, make mistakes and reflect on their progress. Before beginning any programme, I take time to understand each student’s learning style, strengths and challenges, allowing me to tailor strategies that support both cognitive and emotional development. My lessons combine rigour with creativity—balancing explicit instruction with open-ended questioning, reflection, and dialogue to deepen understanding and foster independence.
I place strong emphasis on teaching metacognition and executive functioning skills—organisation, planning, and time management—so that students learn to take ownership of their learning. For those with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, or anxiety, I use a flexible, non-confrontational approach grounded in empathy and positive reinforcement. I incorporate multi-sensory techniques, visual supports and mindfulness-based strategies to help pupils regulate attention and manage stress. Whether preparing for 7+, 11+, 13+, GCSE, or daily schoolwork, my focus is always on helping students to think critically, communicate clearly, and develop resilience. Ultimately, I aim to nurture not only academic success but also the self-belief and independence that underpin lifelong learning.
My specialist experience lies in supporting pupils with additional needs—particularly those with autism (including Asperger’s), ADHD, ODD, PDA and anxiety-related conditions. I have learned that structure, empathy and flexibility are key. I always aim to create calm, predictable environments that minimise sensory overload and promote security. With students experiencing avoidance or anxiety, I use gentle, collaborative language (“I wonder if we could…”), visual supports, and flexible routines to build trust and engagement. Above all, I focus on helping them recognise and manage their own stress levels and communicate their needs effectively.
