About Sam
Hello!
My name is Sam, a university student studying BA (Hons) Ancient, Classical, and Medieval Studies, with a passion for exploring the wider applications of academia. I've always loved learning and developing new methods to strengthen my own understanding, and I find the most rewarding way to do this is by helping others achieve their academic goals.
I strongly believe in pupil-oriented learning, where each lesson is tailored to each student's needs, goals, and preferred learning style. Whether through visual, verbal, or more hands-on approaches, I aim to work collaboratively with students to build confidence and develop methods that help them succeed.
English Literature and English Language were two of my favourite subjects throughout school, leading me to achieve GCSEs in both and an A-Level in English Literature. What I enjoy most about English is its creativity and depth; there is always a new way to approach a text and discover fresh meanings. This is what makes teaching the subject so rewarding to me. I encourage students to develop confidence in their own ideas and interpretations, as I believe this confidence is key to both academic progression and personal success.

My approach to tutoring is centred on providing high-quality, personalised lessons that help students achieve and exceed their academic goals. Each lesson is tailored to the individual's needs, combining clear instruction with interactive activities that suit their preferred learning styles and encourage active engagement.
To maximise focus and retention, I typically keep lessons between an hour to an hour and a half. In my experience, consistent sessions of this length provide an effective balance between sustained learning and student concentration. This format also mirrors the lesson structure students are familiar with at KS3, GCSE, and A-Level.
Ultimately, my lessons combine structured teaching with active student participation, creating a supportive learning environment where students can build confidence, strengthen their skills, and make meaningful academic progress.
