About Elizabeth
I'm a saxophonist, composer and woodwind doubler originally from New Zealand, recently graduated from the performer-composer Master's program at the New School in Manhattan.
My undergraduate studies were in jazz performance and I focused on large ensemble composition and arrangement during my graduate degree.
I've been teaching private woodwind and piano students of all ages for over eight years now and have also worked in classroom/group education contexts at various institutions including the Brooklyn Music School.

The top priority for me as a teacher is fun! It's really important to me that the process of sharing and learning music is joyful and enables students to build sustainable and enjoyable creative practices.
I like to help students set up good routines around the fundamentals including tone, technique and ear training. The next focus is developing repertoire based around the student's interests - be that preparing for the next band practice or learning to play the songbook of the student's favourite band!
