About Charles
I am a professional saxophonist and musician, currently studying a Masters in Classical Saxophone performance at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where I study with Naomi Sullivan, John Harle, Alastair Penman, Nick Moss, Mick Foster and Iain Ballamy.
I have experience across a wide range of musical settings, from solo performance and chamber music to larger ensembles, including orchestras and big bands. Alongside saxophone, I also play clarinet and flute, and work as a composer, arranger and producer.
I’ve been teaching for several years, working with students of different ages and abilities. I have experience preparing students for exams and auditions, but I also really enjoy helping people develop their own musical interests and confidence. For me, lessons aren’t just about learning an instrument — they’re about helping each student become a more independent, curious and expressive musician.

I offer 1-to-1 lessons of 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour, for students of all ages and abilities. From complete beginners through to more advanced players, I am happy to work with students at all levels.
Whether you or your child is just starting out, working towards an exam, has been playing for a while, or is preparing for a conservatoire audition, I can help you make progress in the areas that matter most to you. For me, lessons are about developing your playing while, most importantly, enjoying the music you make.
I specialise in saxophone teaching (soprano, alto, tenor and baritone) up to advanced level, as well as clarinet and flute up to intermediate level.
My goal as a teacher is to give you a strong technical foundation that supports whatever musical direction you want to take. At the same time, I want lessons to reflect your own musical interests and ambitions, whether that's classical music, jazz, improvisation, playing in ensembles, or simply becoming more confident on your instrument.
