About Emily
I teach in your home in G53 and surrounding areas. I can also offer online lessons. Music is my lifelong passion and I love to share my knowledge and experience with others. I previously worked as an NHS doctor but have changed careers to pursue my passion for music. I am a very academic individual and have studied music throughout my life. I am very excited to be starting my Masters MA degree in music practical teaching (woodwind) this summer. I have been playing instruments for 35 years and have continued to learn new instruments and sit practical and diploma exams. I have been teaching privately for over two years and I really enjoy teaching. I care deeply about my students and I am very reliable. I love watching my students progress and grow as musicians. I am very organised with excellent communications skills. I have a relaxed, friendly and patient manner and enjoy working with both children and adults. It is never too late to learn music! I have studied anatomy, physiology, psychology and child development. I am also a Mum myself and have experience with children I have an enhanced disclosure from the PVG Scheme Scotland for work with children. I have the following qualifications: DipABRSM diploma in instrumental teaching flute (distinction) ARSM diploma flute Grade 8 distinction flute, saxophone and recorder Grade 8 clarinet and piano Grade 6 music theory I have a wealth of playing experience. In my youth I played clarinet in my county youth orchestra and concert band, becoming leader in my last year at school. I then played in my University concert band and in a local flute ensemble. I am a keen composer and have recently had my piece "The Coven" for 6 part flute ensemble published by Larch Music. I am currently on a composition short course with the University of Cardiff. My project is a 6 movement collection of pieces for treble recorder and piano. I have also composed a number of original pieces for piano. I am proficient in the use of the composition software Sibelius. I am able to arrange music for any instrument at an appropriate level and frequently do so for my own students so that they can play music of their choice...I have had everything from James Bond to video game music!

Hi I'm Emily and I teach saxophone for beginners to around grade 5 level. I also play and teach a variety of other woodwind instruments. I have over 35 years playing experience and have been tutoring privately for the past 2 years, since changing careers to pursue my love of music! My number one priority is that you enjoy your lessons! I also make sure you will learn correct technique, music theory and explore a variety of musical styles in order to make the best progress in your playing. I can incorporate improvisation/composition if this interests you. Lesson prices - INCLUDES TRAVEL to your home £18.50 for 30 min £25.50 for 45 min £32.50 for 60 min

Excellent teacher, very patient, encouraging. As an older student, I have felt very comfortable getting back into playing again with Emily.
Emily is an absolutely fantastic teacher! I would highly recommend her. Lessons have went so well with Emily teaching my son, she is now teaching my daughter too!. A lovely approach and makes her students feel comfortable and I can honestly say my children love their music lessons and really look forward to them.
Emily has been a fantastic tutor. She is very knowledgeable and very patient. I played flute when I was younger and have come back as an adult learner starting from scratch again. She has been really encouraging and challenges me which is good but it is done with patience, kindness and an element of fun which I enjoy. I would thoroughly recommend Emily as a music tutor .
