About Blyth
I am a passionate Saxophone tutor with 4 years of teaching experience, having successfully guided around 150 students at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. I aim to help students develop both discipline and musical expression.
My tutoring style combines technical discipline and expressive playing. I focus on fundamentals like posture, breathing, tone development, and finger control. Along with technique, I help students understand musical phrasing and expression.
Lessons are planned step by step and adapted to each student’s learning pace. I encourage regular practice and provide clear guidance for improvement.
What makes my teaching unique is my balanced focus on technique and expression. My goal is to help students become confident, expressive, and well-rounded saxophone musicians.

I teach saxophone using a student-centred methodology that emphasises flexibility, collaboration, and positivity. Every student has a unique learning style, so I tailor lessons to their pace, preferences, and goals, making each session both effective and enjoyable.
Flexibility allows me to adapt exercises, repertoire, and lesson plans according to student progress, interests, and motivation, keeping learning engaging and rewarding. Collaboration encourages students to participate actively, experiment with improvisation, and contribute ideas, building both confidence and creativity.
I cultivate a positive and supportive environment where mistakes are embraced as learning opportunities and achievements are celebrated. Lessons include saxophone techniques, musical expression, improvisation, performance skills, and theory, providing a well-rounded musical foundation.
Beyond saxophone, I teach ensemble performance, sight-reading, ear training, and music theory. My goal is to develop expressive, versatile, and confident musicians.
