About Joan
Im Joan Osca, born and raised in Spain. Since im 7 i play saxophone, ive been classically trained and with 6 years of teaching experience. I have a BM in Jazz Studies from Jazz Institut Berlin, and currently finishing my MM at City College of New York. I have a lot of experience as a performer, playing in various band formation (from classical to jazz and hip hop) and have played under the direction of Randy Brecker and Dick Oatts and performed on various stages such as Carnegie Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, A-trane Jazz Club, and Jazztage Leipzig 2022.

My goal is to help you enjoy playing your instrument and identify your strengths and weaknesses in music so you can develop musically over time. Over my last years as a student, I have experienced many different teachers and methods. I have gathered things I like and developed my own methods to create my own approach to teaching. I teach all kinds of levels, for me it is more important the desire to learn, the motivation to improve, and the commitment to the lessons. I can teach you about harmony, improvisation, reading music, ear training, different styles like r&b, pop, jazz, classic
.Mainly, I play the alto saxophone, but I also have experience playing the soprano, tenor, and baritone saxophones.
