About Hailey
I am currently a student at the Royal College of Music, studying cello and piano as a C H Scholar. I regularly organise and perform as a soloist or collaborator so I have a lot of performance experience and love working with different people!
I was previously a Music Scholar studying at Alleyn's School, achieving A*s in my Music GCSE and A-Level. I learnt piano and cello from Senior Professors at the Royal College of Music since the age of 9. I play both instruments above Grade 8 level and I have won major competitions in local music festivals, such as the Senior Centenary Musician of the Year in Beckenham Festival and Louis Watt Memorial Competition at the Centre for Young Musicians.
Previous orchestral experience includes principal cello of the Bromley Youth Symphony Orchestra, Bromley Youth Chamber Orchestra (including a tour to France's Loire Valley, where I was also a soloist). I was also principal of the London Schools' Symphony Orchestra, where I played at the Barbican Centre. Recently I recorded at Abbey Road Studios as part of a jazz collective, and I regularly record for singers at the National Opera Studio.
I began my piano studies at the age of 3, where my piano teacher told me to make variations off of 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', which sparked my love of learning music through exploration.
I started cello at the age of 7, through the Wider Opportunities programme from Richmond Music Trust, and proceeded to Grade 5 in a year, with Distinction. During my time at RMT, I also completed my Music Theory to Grade 5 Distinction in the same year.
In my free time, I also love cooking, reading, or just trying out as many new things as I can!!

I am able to teach Piano and Cello up to Grade 8 level, Music Theory up to Grade 5 level, and Music GCSE (Edexcel). I achieved Distinction in my music exams, and an A** for GCSE, including full marks for the composition and performing component. I have over 5 years of teaching experience, and teaching runs in my family so I have been lucky to learn from the people around me.
I am very passionate about music and will be more than happy to help anyone start or progress their musical journey! I teach in an engaging, patient and friendly style, tailoring my lessons to the student's needs, whether they want to take an exam, or extend their knowledge. No matter the level, I strive to make the lessons fun and enjoyable!
In instrumental lessons, I focus on making sure the student is nice and relaxed, which will lead to better technique and sound, providing a solid foundation to good storytelling and emotion, which is crucial to being a great performer.
I always want to give confidence and encouragement to my students, and I think it is the best feeling for both students and teachers when they see progress in their playing or understanding of music!

Super lovely and so supportive!!
"Hailey is such a lovely and hard working student. She is kind, responsible and very mature. She takes music very seriously, she is very talented!! But her main strength is that she is an amazing young lady. I have known her for years and I am so confident of her value.
Amazing musician and kind personality !
Incredible person, player, performer just generally brilliant. Hailey has really helped me rediscover my passion and love for music and has continued to inspire me. Thank you
I have had the privilege of playing with Hailey over the past year, in a local orchestra. Not only is she a fantastic cellist, but also an incredibly kind and approachable person. I am convinced that what she offers as a tutor will not be easily matched elsewhere!
