About Alicia
- What kind of experience do you have? I have been teaching all ages since 2010 and have done that with passion. Love and pleasure in music is central in the lessons. Besides that I am teaching violin technique in a healthy and natural way. During the lessons I will accompany the student on violin, which will encourage the love for music making with others. I will prepare students towards their grade exams. - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? DBS checked. - Where and with whom did you train? I am a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music where I received the Amadeus Scholarship for outstanding achievement. I perform regularly in the UK and abroad. My playing has been featured by media outlets worldwide including The Guardian, BBC Radio 3, Radio 4 in the Netherlands, NHK World in Japan. I am a founding member of the Behn Quartet with whom I got selected as the CAVATINA chamber music fellows at the Royal Academy of Music 2016/2017& 2017/2018 and will perform in the UK, New Zealand, China and the Netherlands in the 17/18 season. Besides being a passionate chamber musician, I regularly freelance with several London orchestras and work as a session musician having recorded for artists such as the Arctic Monkeys and Taylor Swift. - Do you belong to any professional organisations? Alicia is an amazing musician and teacher and I can’t recommend her enough!
If you're looking to improve your tone and technique with a tailored lesson plan, Alicia is an excellent violin teacher I can recommend! She readily selected advanced exercises that were appropriate for me to practice independently and engaging new pieces that were enjoyable to sight read together. She was flexible for scheduling lessons and provided a non-judgmental space to learn - plus a cup of tea on rainy days!
