About Collin
"Violin strings vibrate under my fingers in the French tradition I studied during my BMus degree. Twelve years of teaching have taught me that building technique slowly remains the most effective way to ensure lasting progress for students returning to the instrument. I specialize in helping adult restarts move past the regret of lost time by focusing on orchestral playing, bowing techniques like spiccato and staccato, and consistent tone production.
My calm, structured approach ensures we address shifting positions and vibrato with total precision. Developing your ear for tuning or preparing for ABRSM or Trinity grade exams becomes a simple process when the foundation feels secure. I look forward to helping you bridge the gap between your past playing and your current musical goals."

"Many players feel frustrated when their muscles remember melodies but their fingers lose the physical coordination required for complex shifting. Technical habits often stiffen over time.
Since holding a diagnostic assessment serves as my 8.0 standard for every student, we begin by identifying exactly what needs adjustment in your stance and bowing mechanics before setting a practice plan. My BMus training informs how I break down difficult passages into manageable movements so that your orchestral repertoire feels accessible again.
We will systematically clean up your staccato strokes and vibrato through exercises that prioritize physical ease over brute force. This methodical pace allows us to explore deeper musical expression while we ensure the instrument feels natural in your hands. Finding true joy in the process of daily improvement remains the primary highlight of our work together."
