About Essence

My name is Essence Hunt, and I am a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with hands-on experience supporting children in developing communication, social, and academic skills. My work in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has shaped the way I approach teaching—I focus on patience, structure, and truly understanding each learner’s individual needs.

As a tutor with a background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), my approach is structured, data-driven, and individualized to each learner. I focus on breaking down complex skills into smaller, manageable steps while using reinforcement and repetition to promote mastery and long-term retention.

Teaching Method & Techniques

My teaching style is rooted in ABA principles. I use techniques such as:

Task analysis to break skills into teachable steps
Prompting and prompt fading to support independence
Positive reinforcement to increase motivation and engagement
Modeling and errorless teaching to reduce frustration and build confidence
Data collection to track progress and adjust instruction as needed

I also prioritize pairing and rapport-building, because I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable and supported.

Warm-up / Pairing – Building rapport and reviewing mastered skills
Skill Acquisition – Teaching new targets using structured trials or natural environment teaching (NET)
