About Troy
I teach guitar with a focus on precision, speed, and musical storytelling. With a Bachelor of Music in World Music (Guitar Traditions) and 5 years of experience, I connect world-inspired phrasing with modern shred. My lessons challenge players to refine every aspect of their technique. We focus on synchronization, timing, and tone shaping. Students learn economy picking, alternate picking, and advanced tapping with ease and purpose. I teach how to stay relaxed while playing fast and confidently. My sessions fit both developing teens and adults mastering their technique. I emphasize the art of consistent, intelligent practice for long-term progress. Lessons also explore the creative side of metal and progressive composition. We use world music influences to enrich harmonic ideas and rhythmic variety. My goal is to make speed expressive, not mechanical. Every exercise ties directly to real performance goals. Together, we’ll build power, precision, and individuality in your playing.

My guitar teaching centers on developing strong ears for music. Listening is the key to understanding everything you play. Lessons combine ear training, melodic dictation, and transcription in a simple, progressive way. Students learn to recognize melodies, rhythms, and intervals naturally. I guide them to connect sound with movement through daily listening habits. The Campfire Strummer builds chord and strumming accuracy through familiar songs. The Blues Seeker learns tone sensitivity and emotional phrasing through classic licks. My approach turns practice into discovery, not repetition. Each session encourages active listening and creative expression. I believe that ear training strengthens not only technique but also confidence. Over time, students become independent musicians who can learn songs on their own. Every lesson blends focus with fun to keep progress enjoyable. Soon, melodies will unfold easily under your fingers — just by listening.
