About Marissa

I am a recent Master of Accountancy graduate from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota with a passion for helping students succeed in accounting. Having recently completed challenging undergraduate and graduate accounting coursework myself, I understand how overwhelming these classes can feel. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students can build confidence, strengthen their understanding of core concepts, and improve their performance in the classroom.

About the lesson

Lessons are designed to make difficult accounting topics feel more approachable by breaking concepts down step-by-step instead of relying on memorization alone.

I focus on teaching the “why” behind accounting rules so students can confidently solve problems on their own during exams and assignments.

My teaching style is patient, interactive, and personalized to each student’s learning pace and goals.

I use real examples, guided practice problems, and exam-style questions to help students apply concepts in practical situations.

Sessions are structured but flexible, allowing time for reviewing lecture material, homework help, test preparation, and concept reinforcement.

A typical lesson includes reviewing problem areas, walking through examples together, practicing independently with guidance, and ending with a quick recap of key takeaways.

I help students build strong problem-solving strategies rather than simply giving answers, which improves long-term understanding and performance.

As a recent Master of Accountancy graduate from the Carlson School of Management, I understand the challenges current students face because I recently completed the same coursework myself.

I can explain topics in a straightforward and relatable way that connects classroom concepts to real accounting applications.

I specialize in helping students who feel overwhelmed, behind in class, or frustrated with complicated accounting topics.

Lessons are ideal for undergraduate students taking introductory and intermediate accounting courses, including financial accounting

Support is available for students preparing for quizzes, exams, homework assignments, projects, or overall course improvement
