About Brad

Kia ora, I’m Brad. I’ve been privileged to call myself a Landscape Architect; but the road here wasn’t as straightforward as it might look from the outside. Throughout my studies, I balanced multiple roles: working as a tutor at my university, and as a freelance landscape designer on residential projects alongside contractors, nursery technicians and tradies. After graduating, I was fortunate to help establish the design arm of a landscape design–build business, which shaped much of my early practical understanding. I’ve since begun my formal career as a Landscape Architect and am currently practicing here in Victoria. Teaching has always been a meaningful part of my journey. I’ve found genuine fulfillment in supporting students who are seeking more practical knowledge in preparation to one day enter the workforce. While university is a valuable place for learning, growth, and exploration, it doesn’t fully prepare emerging professionals for the often mundane, unglamorous, and practical realities of the job. Nor does it always equip them with the fundamental soft skills and applied knowledge needed to thrive early in their careers. My goal in teaching is to bridge that gap, offering grounded, real-world insight to help future practitioners step into the profession with confidence.

About the lesson

Looking to bridge the gap between university and real-world practice? The profession of Landscape Architecture is not always as straightforward as drawing trees. As a practicing LA with 4 years of freelance landscape design, 2 years tutoring at university, and 3 years working professionally in the industry, I offer guidance grounded in real-world experience with a focus on building practical capability and the development of soft skills, highly sought after in today’s industry. My goal is to better prepare you for the workplace you are about to enter. This is not a service for boosting grades or gaming assignments. I’m not here to help you tick assessment boxes—I’m here to help you become a more capable, confident, and practice-ready landscape practitioner. Tutorials are available online or in person by arrangement. Consider this the chance to pick the brains of a practicing professional.
