About Isabel
My passion for teaching came from my experience helping my younger brother with his school work, he had been struggling with school due to undiagnosed ADHD resulting in a feeling of being misunderstood and a delay in learning. I worked with him to develop new methods of learning and revising which worked for him both through maintaining attention span and increasing understanding. Since then I have enjoyed tailoring all my teaching and explanations to individual students so that no matter what difficulties or areas of challenge a student has, they have an equal chance to learn.

My qualifications and experience is my degree from the University of Birmingham which I achieved July 2026. In my last year of study I worked for a tutoring company based in Birmingham where I began as an assistant teacher for an 11+ class and a GCSE class where I then progressed to 1:1 support of the GCSE students during their exam seasons focusing on exam practice. I also held my own creative writing class for three students all in Year 5.
A typical lesson is an hour long, split into three sections.
- the first section involves a catchup/ review of what the whole lesson will achieve with a focus of hearing from the student their needs, subjects they want to focus on, etc..
- the second section is the bulk of teaching, usually involving reviewing writings or techniques - this changes depending on what the subject matter is.
- the third and final section is some independent work so that the student can really come to terms with what they have learnt and we can see the gaps in knowledge so that they come away from the session fully confident. (this is usually 10-15 minutes)
