About Merlin
My approach to tutoring is that knowledge builds confidence. I prioritise the need to learn the fundamentals of the subject, making the process approachable for novice, intermediate or expert.
I have studied and taught at the acclaimed drawing school The Royal Drawing school... where classical and modern technique is equally celebrated.
I have lectured Drawing at University College Falmouth and Academy Studios Abroad on many occasions.
My own education has been from a young age, as I come from a long line of artists and art teachers. My great grandfather was the keeper of the Royal Academy of Art, where my grandfather also taught. My father also runs an Art school. Through this historical background, I have learned a number of teaching techniques which create confidence and knowledge for now and for years to come.

Merlin helped my daughter to prepare her portfolio when studying Art A level, which he did brilliantly, really getting her to understand all sorts of concepts and opening up the wonderful world of art for her in a way that she has appreciated ever since.
I would thoroughly recommend him as an art or history of art tutor to anyone wanting to pursue it as a career or for pleasure.Merlin was a great help for our daughter who needed extra help with her portfolio for applying to college. He has an incredible knowledge of techniques! Would highly recommend!
