About Hello

Hello, I’m Jen, a qualified Primary Teacher with QTS and over 10 years of experience working across Primary and Early Years education.

I currently work within an EYFS nursery setting with teaching responsibilities and recently completed the National Professional Qualification for Early Years Leadership (NPQEYL). Throughout my career, I have supported children across a range of ages and abilities, with a particular focus on phonics, early reading and literacy development.

I am passionate about helping children build confidence in reading and learning. I understand that children make the best progress when they feel calm, supported and encouraged, and I aim to create positive learning experiences that help children feel proud of their achievements.

My experience in both classroom and Early Years settings has given me a strong understanding of how young children learn and develop. I particularly enjoy supporting children who may need extra encouragement with phonics, reading confidence or early literacy skills.

As both an education professional and a parent, I understand the importance of creating a nurturing and supportive environment where children feel comfortable to learn at their own pace. I also value positive communication with families and aim to provide reassurance and practical support for parents alongside tutoring sessions.

My goal is to help children develop strong foundations in reading while building confidence, independence and enjoyment in learning.

About the lesson

I am a qualified Primary Teacher with QTS and over 10 years of experience working across Primary and Early Years education. I currently work within an EYFS nursery setting with teaching responsibilities and hold the National Professional Qualification for Early Years Leadership (NPQEYL).

I specialise in phonics, early reading and supporting children who may lack confidence in literacy. My approach is calm, supportive and tailored to each child’s individual needs and learning style. I believe children make the best progress when they feel relaxed, encouraged and proud of their achievements.

Lessons are designed to be engaging, positive and confidence-building. Depending on the child’s age and needs, sessions may include phonics activities, reading practice, games, comprehension tasks, handwriting, spelling or literacy support. I also provide gentle encouragement and practical strategies to help children develop a more positive relationship with reading and learning.

I particularly enjoy supporting:

* Reception and KS1 children
* Early readers
* Children needing phonics support
* Reluctant or anxious readers
* Children needing help to build confidence in literacy

Session length is adapted to suit the child’s age and concentration. For younger children, sessions are typically around 30 minutes to keep learning enjoyable and engaging.

As both an education professional and a parent, I understand the importance of creating a supportive learning environment where children feel comfortable, motivated and able to grow in confidence at their own pace.
