About Janet

I am a local South African, who is passionate about teaching young children and helping them achieve their goal I believe that the children of today are tomorrow's future leaders who have the potential to change the world for the better and that as a teacher our role is to instill the knowledge, skills, morals and behaviours that are needed for them to thrive in whatever role chosen, within a positive learning environment.

I have been described as hard working and proactive, with an amazing ability to make myself relatable to others through establishing a sense of trust and connection.

In my spare time, I like to read, travel, hike and cook or bake in the kitchen and see friends.

About the lesson

As a qualified Early Childhood Educator with experience teaching ESL physically and online I believe I have a lot of expertise to offer and have the potential to create a fun interactive class where the learner is equally engaged and challenged in their learning environment. I have learnt how to handle situations calmly under stress and the importance of teaching with an open minded attitude.

My primary focus is to teach English as a Second Language to Pre - Primary and Elementary Phase foreign students.
Content covered in the lessons would include phonics, dictation, comprehension, rhymes and poetry, storytelling and other language skills needed to succeed at school.

My lessons are child focused and incorporate all the learning styles and unique needs that the individual child may have and will be easily adaptable.

The lessons will be presented in a fun, stimulating and relaxed environment, using lots of visual aids and making use of the Total Physical Response approach, which includes learning the theory and but also having opportunities to use the knowledge learnt in a practical way.

The period of the lesson will be 30-45minutes as this is a good length of the lesson, in terms of completing the objectives of the lesson while still retaining the concentration of the learners.
