About Sophia

Hi, I'm Sophia!

I'm a qualified Primary and Special Education teacher with a passion for supporting future educators as they develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed throughout their university studies and beyond.

Through my experience in both mainstream and specialist education settings, I have developed a strong understanding of educational theory, inclusive teaching practices, curriculum planning, assessment, differentiation, and evidence-based instruction. I currently work as an intervention teacher, supporting students with diverse learning needs through targeted literacy and numeracy programs, while continuing to engage with current educational research and best practice.

I understand that studying education can be both rewarding and challenging. Balancing coursework, professional experience placements, assignments, and the LANTITE can feel overwhelming at times. My goal is to provide personalized, supportive tutoring that helps you not only complete your university requirements but also develop the understanding and professional skills that will benefit you throughout your teaching career.

I enjoy helping pre-service teachers build confidence in areas such as educational theory, lesson planning, assessment design, academic writing, reflective practice, curriculum interpretation, and preparation for the LANTITE. I also provide ethical guidance throughout the GTPA process, helping you understand expectations, interpret assessment criteria, organize your evidence, and confidently communicate your professional practice while ensuring all submitted work remains your own.

My tutoring sessions provide a supportive, judgment-free environment where questions are encouraged, challenges are worked through together, and learning is tailored to your individual goals and university requirements. As a qualified Primary and Special Education teacher, I have a strong understanding of the knowledge, skills, and professional expectations required throughout an education degree and into the teaching profession. My sessions are personalised to your individual needs, whether you're seeking support with course content, assessment tasks, professional experience preparation, or the LANTITE.

Sessions can be tailored to focus on:

GTPA Support:

Completing the Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment (GTPA) can be one of the most demanding components of an education degree. I offer guidance throughout the GTPA process to help you understand the assessment requirements, organise your evidence, interpret the rubric, and confidently communicate your teaching practice.

While I cannot write or edit your GTPA for you, I can support you by helping you:

* Understand each section and what assessors are looking for.
* Interpret the marking criteria and assessment requirements.
* Plan and organise your evidence and documentation.
* Link your teaching decisions to relevant research and professional standards.
* Develop a clear understanding of how to reflect on your practice and justify your pedagogical choices.
* Answer questions about lesson planning, assessment, data analysis, differentiation, and evidence collection.

My role is to guide you through the process, answer your questions, and help you develop the knowledge and confidence to produce work that is entirely your own while meeting your university's academic integrity requirements.

My approach is centred on building your understanding rather than simply helping you complete a task. Together, we'll work through concepts, develop problem-solving strategies, strengthen your academic writing, and improve your confidence so you can apply your knowledge independently throughout your degree and into your teaching career.

I honestly cannot recommend Sophia highly enough. When I first reached out to her, I was a second-year pre-service teacher who had failed the LANTITE and was feeling completely overwhelmed. My confidence was at an all-time low, and I wasn't sure if I'd ever be able to pass the exam.
