About Joanna

I am a friendly, encouraging, experienced and enthusiastic teacher of English! I hope that after a few sessions, all of my tutees begin to gain more of an enjoyment for English and greater confidence in reading and writing for themselves! I aim for our sessions to be enjoyable as well as highly tailored to the student's needs at that point. I have lots of experience in helping students to get a firm foundation in reading or writing skills, as well as a strong background pushing higher ability students to get the top grades. I have a wealth of expertise to draw upon for every student. Please do get in touch! I'd love to talk about how I can help you.

About the lesson

First I like to get to know the student a little bit, and find out what they hope to get out of the experience. I then will make a quick informal assessment of their strengths as well as their areas to improve, relative to the task and assessment criteria. I hope to encourage students as much as possible to be confident, skilful and enthused about English! Lessons are usually 1 hour. I have QTS and have been teaching at secondary level for 10 years. I have over 100 hours' tutoring experience and have worked with students across the whole range of age and ability at secondary level. My lessons are typically for secondary school and sixth form/college students, but I will also love to hear from anyone wanting help with essay writing at a higher levels since essay writing is one of my particular strengths.
