About Andrea

An original "Berliner Pflanze", I love my heritage, but find great pleasure in travelling and cultural exploration. My interest and my previous work in international tourism and financial services in multi-lingual settings have taken me to all but one continent, for work or leisure which formed my worldview and understanding of people and communication.

As a mum to a bilingual child, I found my love of teaching both English and German and gained my teaching experience in primary and secondary schools (state and private) in the UK. While working at a local primary school, I specialised in Speech and Language needs. I loved helping young people with their specific challenges in English but decided to get my MFL teaching degree to work with foreign languages. In the past 7 years, I have been teaching German to foreign natives and bilingual students from primary school up to A-Level and Uni entry. Currently, I work as a language trainer for adults who learn German for professional reasons and as a private tutor for secondary school pupils studying for their GCSE and A-Level.

I am also a life-long learner myself. (I studied Spanish and English at university and through work, and Russian back in school, but I keep learning by using the languages. I am also a learner of French because I love the sound of it and have friends I want to talk to.) There are many reasons to pick up a new language, and I understand the challenges one is facing when starting to learn to communicate in a new language.

About the lesson

I work with learners of all CEFR levels, including students who want to master their GCSE or A Level exams or upgrade to University entry-level. Likewise, I help adult learners, who aim to improve their spoken or written communication skills in German, be it for professional or personal reasons.

With adult learners, I work with a A1-A2 textbook for beginners to provide clear and easy-to-follow content and grammar structure supplemented by a lot of verbal practice, for more advanced learners we will use authentic listening and reading resources and grammar materials matching your level and needs.

Whether you need to prepare for an exam, look for a grammar brush-up, or just want to have an engaging conversation with a native teacher, or love to read and discuss a variety of topics - I will support you in your study of German with on your specific language needs and wants in mind.

Age range: From 12 years.
Lesson time: 30min (£25) / 60min (£50) / 90min (£75)
Online lessons: via Zoom or Google Meet.
Resources: Range of literature recommended by the exam boards in the UK and Germany, cultural insights through authentic material.

Specialised in GCSE and A-LEVEL syllabi through academic study, teacher training, and years of teaching and tutoring experience, I will help you gain fluency, accuracy and range in the use of the German language and help you master exams with top marks.

My lessons start with you and your aspirations in language learning. After an initial evaluation of your reading, speaking, listening, and writing skills we will tailor your learning path based on your goals. I help you immerse in cultural aspects too, by sharing and explaining aspects of our culture and traditions.
