About Vijay

Hi I'm a recently graduated junior doctor having studied Medicine (MBBS) at Queen Mary University of London. I’m a friendly and approachable tutor with a very experienced background of tutoring students for Medical school applications, Interview practice and GCSEs e.g. Biology/Chemistry, A levels,. Teaching others is something I’m really passionate about and I aim to make sessions interactive to ensure students can get the most out of each session as possible. I’ve taught students of all ages and abilities and helped them progress further in their education path, such as getting through 11 plus exams, Grammar school sixth forms and a place in Universities and competitive Med schools. I’m fully competent to help students gain the necessary skill set to support them in Science based subjects at school and applications to courses like Medicine and Dentistry, to maximise their chances of getting an offer. I have helped prospective Med students achieve offers first time round, by assisting with personal statements and Interview technique. I am happy to help you with anything you're struggling with and can also provide resources.

About the lesson

I tailor sessions to each student for all ranges of ability. For each session, everything is covered to the point for what you need to know including questions to help support your learning. I also plan a layout for each session in advance to ensure any deadlines are met and lessons have a structure. I understand the difficulties of exam stress or applying to University for something as competitive as Medical school. My key teaching method is building a strong rapport with my students and understanding their current weaknesses, to turn them into strengths and boost exam progress. Through my help, my students definitely build their confidence in doing well in exams and getting University offers. I believe it is key to have a good structure for tutoring, so I aim to organise each session with the topics my student is struggling with and try to include helpful tips and questions to help their progress. For medical school, I cover the universities best suited for your application, writing the personal statement and preparing for the interview questions, such as through aided mock interview practice based off past interview questions that are common.
