About Catherine

I am a fully qualified French teacher in the UK, I have 2 years experience of teaching French in a secondary school, and have also taught English in both primary and secondary schools in France and Spain. I have a degree in French with TESOL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)

I am an enthusiastic language learner (I am currently working on my Spanish) and I am passionate about encouraging more people to learn languages and in particular, the cultural side of languages. I also like the challenge of making the less fun, more difficult parts of language learning (e.g. grammar) fun and engaging.

About the lesson

I tailor my lessons to suit the needs of the student, I use a variety of activities to keep lessons interesting and engaging for a variety of ages and abilities. The first lesson is free so that I can get to know you, your ability, and what you want to get out of your lessons.
I give lots of personalised advice on how best to improve your language skills and tips on how to answer tricky GCSE questions. I can work on speaking, reading, listening, writing and grammar, and can focus in depth on one skill, or a mixture of all. If speaking is something you find daunting, I have lots of activities to help build your confidence.
A typical lesson would last around an hour, but depending on needs, I can be flexible.
