About Isabè
I am a highly educated and well-experienced Junior Phase and Special Needs Teacher/Therapist with diverse involvement and capabilities within the educational arena. I qualified as a Junior Phase Teacher (4-Years) and taught students for 4 years. Afterward, I qualified as a Special Education Teacher (2 years). At that stage I was employed within Special Needs Education and built up 10 years of experience. In my endeavor as educator I’ve committed myself to child-orientated, creative and supportive learning and in this have taken hands with Mainstream Education, Special Needs Schooling, Private Education, Homeschooling as well as Christian Education. I have been teaching students for 30+ years and still enjoying it!
I started my private tutoring practice in Afrikaans (First Language and my personal mother tongue) and are well- capable to tutor in Eglish (EFL& FAL) as well as Afrikaans (AFL & FAL) for Junior Phase students.

I am energetic, confident, loyal, hardworking, punctual, patient, naturally friendly and have a passion for interacting with children/people, education, training and building of relationships. My heart is for Junior Phase children and children with learning difficulties. Before taking in a student I will conduct some informal and, if needed, formal assessment. Parents receive feedback which includes a personal approach/plan for the specific student. I work together with the parent/s and welcome them to, from time to time, sit in with a private lesson. My personal approach to education is holistic (filling in gaps, doing remedial work as needed, developing attention and memory skills, working especially in the fields of introductory reading and mathematical difficulties which include some emotional support and building of a positive self-image, etc.). I incorporate academic and Biblical principles as a vehicle towards educational excellence. My classes always incorporate character building and language development as an add on. I believe every child should have the privilege to learn by example to be: kind, forgiving, respectful, eager to learn, optimistic, flexible, observant and efficient. I believe in and highly value lifelong learning.

My tariff varies according to the amount and intensity of the work which needs to be done. Informal assessment during the first lesson is free. If needed, formal assessment will be discussed and will happen over the duration of the next lesson (fixed at R350,00/h) or two (fixed at 2x R350/h) - depending on the working speed of the student.
Any lesson package bought at the reduced price will not count as payment for any formal assessment. Any lesson package will only commence after formal evaluation (if it was necessary). If formal assessment was not necessary, any lesson package will commence after informal assessment. Cost of travel will be discussed if needed.
Special Needs Education/Remedial Education/Homework help: Informal evaluation during the first lesson is free . I do remedial and/or special needs tutoring and homework help for students up to Gr 3 level irrespective of their chronological age (Language of instruction: Afrikaans and English). Further education can be discussed.
Home schooling will need to happen during mornings, at least three days a week for 5 hours a day (I am prepared to work with Mathematics, Afrikaans - AFL & FAL and English EFL & FAL). I normally work during school terms but are flexible to a certain extend.

Please note I cannot offer online tutoring, as Junior Phase students are in need of a hands-on approach and making use of apparatus for activities. I have a well-equipped facility to especially tutor individual students, located on my home premises. Experience taught me that tutoring off premises does not allow me to adapt adequately to a student's spontaneous educational needs. I have to be able to make use of applicable apparatus to address certain issues arising from schoolwork and tutoring.
I take pride in the work I do and runs my practice as a professional. Being punctual is of utmost importance to me and I expect my clients to respect my time as I respect theirs.
During the past ten years I educated myself to as well work with higher grade student with aspergers as well as disleksia. I enjoy the interaction with senior students - I incorporate my counselling skills to build relationship, communication and trust with them. My students enjoy this practical interaction which I then can apply and incorporate with their academic
achievement. Goal setting and motivation are achieved/come into practice. What a great priviledge to work with students.
