My teaching methodology is to make the subject as interesting and fun as possible. I design and develop my own lessons - when it's one-on -one teaching, I get to learn how each individual student learns best, and design my lessons to achieve optimal learning. I love to make my lessons creative, and i can "think on my feet" very quickly. My lessons are always interactive and I would find ways to make a shy, lacking in confidence non-native English student attain that confidence and willingness to speak freely. Feedback I've had from students is that they find my lessons engaging, fun, and they come to classes excitedly. I have never had to 'market' myself - I ended up being busy from Sunday to Sunday with home tutoring - this was all by word of mouth and recommendations. Thus, my lessons would include role-play asking students what scenarios they would like to role -play; I always take my cue from them to make the lesson as relevant and appropriate to their own lives. Even the 'boring' grammar, which they have difficulty with, is creative and built into a fun, active lesson. I'd write my own stories which they can relate to, which inspires them to write their own stories too. Also cartoon stories where they have to tell the story, quizzes, games, puzzles, etc.
In Iraq, I was asked to stay there permanently, but that wasn't possible as I have my family all here. I am still in contact with some of my colleagues and students there, and helping them with English and other challenges.
