About Kun
My name is Xu Kun (徐坤). I am Chinese, originally from Shanghai.
I speak Mandarin, Nanchangese, and Shanghainese, as well as English, French, and some Italian. I studied Qigong at Wudang Mountain with Master Yuan Shimao. I hold an MFA in Actor Training & Coaching from the University of London (UK) and an MBA from IAE Poitiers (France).
With over 20 years of experience as a trainer and coach, I have long been inspired by Chinese philosophy, though I was not initially drawn to Qigong or Taichi, which felt too abstract and mythical to me.
That changed fifteen years ago, when a severe lower-back injury caused by gym training left me in chronic pain. A Chinese Medicine doctor recommended Qigong as part of my recovery. I was surprised by how quickly it helped restore my mobility, and the experience transformed my understanding of the body, movement, and life itself.

I trained on Wudang Mountain under Master Yuan, a 14th-generation inheritor of the Wudang Sanfeng tradition, and I continue to deepen my practice.
I did not believe in Qigong until I was 35, when a severe lower-back injury left me unable to move freely for several years. Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine helped me regain my mobility, energy, and vitality.
Tai Chi incorporates many principles of Qigong and is better known in the West. However, it may not be the best starting point for everyone. Although it appears slow and gentle, Tai Chi is an advanced martial art that requires coordination of the body, mind, breath, energy, and awareness. Without a sufficient foundation, it can be challenging, particularly for beginners, people who sit for long periods, and those experiencing persistent tension in the knees or lower back.
In some traditional Wudang training contexts, students spent two or three years developing a Qigong foundation before beginning Tai Chi. This preparation helped them develop structural alignment, body awareness, coordination, and stability.
My teaching therefore does not focus on classical Tai Chi forms. Instead, I introduce foundational practices that support both Qigong and Tai Chi. Qigong is an interdisciplinary practice drawing on Traditional Chinese Medicine, martial arts, and Chinese philosophy. It is more than physical exercise; it is also a way of living and understanding life.
The practice centres on listening to the body, moving with less effort, and working with rather than against the body’s natural rhythms. It can support balance, vitality, healthier alignment, and the release of long-held tension, while helping participants step away from habitual pressure and reconnect with themselves.
The sessions are designed for beginners, including people with limited mobility. They combine gentle strengthening, stillness, flexibility, breath awareness, and simple philosophical reflection, supported by mindful lifestyle choices. Through practice, participants are invited to rediscover a calmer, more grounded, and sustainable way of living.
Recommendations

I really enjoyed my Qigong class . From the very beginning, I felt comfortable and able to slow down, relax and focus on myself.
The exercises helped me feel more centred and more aware of my body. I also noticed a real improvement in my posture, and my back felt so much better after the class.
Kin creates a calm and positive atmosphere, and explains everything in a very clear and natural way. It was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend his classes.I really enjoy Eric's teaching style because he encourages me to explore and discover my own way of practising, rather than simply asking me to imitate him.
His understanding of Qigong is logical, practical, and easy to apply, which is quite different from that of many other Qigong teachers I have learned from.
