About Davin
I am 16 and currently in Year 12, working towards my A-levels, hoping to do Computer Science or Software Engineering at university.
I sat my GCSEs in Summer 2026 and got all subjects at Grade 6 or above minimum. The most relevant here are a Grade 7 in Computer Science (OCR J277), a Grade 8 in Maths and a Grade 9 in English Language.
Outside of school, I write C#, Python and Rust, and publish the games I make in Unity. This isn't something I do as part of a qualification, but something I like and enjoy doing in my spare time. What this means is that I can provide working code samples for almost any task on the GCSE course, as opposed to just theoretical discussion.
On the practical side, I will be punctual and prepared for every lesson, and I will always respond to messages as quick as I can. Where I do not know something, I will always say so, and I will work out the answer before the next lesson than try and guess.

How I teach:
For the coding aspect, you'll be writing code within the first ten minutes. Computer Science is a subject people fail by reading about it and not actually doing it, and I'll keep the theory to a minimum and get you writing something real.
For GCSE I teach the course as well as the exam. I sat OCR J277 in Summer 2026 and attained a Grade 7, so I know where the marks go. Many examiners are very particular about wording. The mark scheme may ask for one word and refuse a synonym, even when you know what you're talking about. This can cause a lot of lost marks. I still have my notes and the questions I got wrong, so this is more useful to teaching this course than if I had got a perfect mark.
The beginners' learning Python are taught the reverse. Something desired is chosen and built upon until something you want to exist is built. Loops, functions and data structures are learnt as their need arises.
Lesson length:
An hour is standard and is perfect for weekly lessons for GCSE support. 90 minutes is preferable where appropriate, for project work or for revision closer to an exam. It's long enough to properly get into something before being pulled out of it again.
Who these lessons are for:
GCSE Computer Science students on any exam board (although I am most familiar with OCR J277) and complete beginners of any age looking to get into Python. No previous experience is expected and adult students are most welcome.
Why I am a great option as a tutor:
Firstly, I am 16 and just moved into Year 12. I have recent experience of the course, having done it this year and done well.
Also, I've got a Grade 9 in English Language, which is more important than it seems, as a lot of the role of a tutor requires you to explain a difficult concept clearly and concisely, using the correct and specific terminology. This is the same skill that the mark scheme tests when it asks for a specific term and not a synonym.
Furthermore, I have a very big passion for Computer Science and that's what's really important. I write C#, Python and Rust and make games in Unity in my spare time.
Finally, I am also close enough to the same age to remember what it's like not to know what I know, and not to assume you should know what I know.
