About Mădălina
I am a proud romanian citizen. I have been teaching and study helping voluntarily for more than 7 years and I have experience in working with children as well as vulnerable populations. I was valedictorian of my Public Health Bachelor cohort in July 2018. During the three undergraduate years, I have accumulated professional knowledge and skills that will build on my future public health professional career. With respect to the knowledge I have received, I was able to learn from various domains such as, statistics, qualitative research methods, epidemiology, economics, health systems, public administration, violence and injury prevention, maternal and child health, mental health, finances, program design and implementation and other related fields.
Besides faculty curricula I manage to be involved in others activities that boost my professional development. In the second year of faculty, I have my first article published in the Journal of School Medicine representing a policy proposal for tackling faulty posture in secondary school children. My next two published articles were: Dr. Dulf D. & Pop, M., 2018. Health systems and services research prioritization. Health Policy magazine, pp. 63 and Dascal M, Pop M, Rad A, Veress D., 2018. Emergency services overcrowding. The latest published article was in April 2018: Food waste consequences. Medical Life Journal, Nr. 8 (1465)Medical Life Journal, Nr. 20 (1477). I presented the paper Enforcement of anti-bullying policies and regulations in middle schools from Cluj-Napoca – a policy proposal – at the 2nd International Conference of Non-Communicable Diseases 2017. I had an internship at a private hospital as a promotion and marketing administrator working for a well-known plastic surgeon. I also volunteered an event as a coordinator volunteer for a theatre workshop –Art therapy for children and children with disabilities 2017.
I have worked as a research assistant at Paragon Europe, Fopsim organisation. I worked mainly on social inclusion programs funded by the European Union, Horizon 2020 and I was involved in research and administrative activities. I also worked as a research technician at Department of Public Health Cluj-Napoca on an European Commission funded project, TO-REACH prioritizing health system problems.
Currently, I am a master student in UK studying Public Health and Health Promotion. . I am keen on healthy behaviours promotion such as physical activity and nutrition and persuasive in prioritizing health system challenges which therefore, will equitable improve the health of the population. Besides the daily classes, I have chosen to volunteer at Discovery SVS on food waste and fundraising projects, an activity that I consider self-developing.
I have a passion for multiculturalism and I am keen on discovering new cultures and traveling around the world, as I think that as a public health profesionals you can only understand the issues if you get in touch with them.
Since I was a child I knew that my career would involve talking to people, listen to them and creating bounds through conversations. Moreover, the numerous situations I faced demonstrated to me that I work best in managerial positions and I can be a very good leader. Considering this, the perfect mixture for my career would be working with people and empower them to strive for their best as teaching gives you the most honorable duty - to form children for being the next world elite. I like to get out of my comfort zone and promote health in any possible way. I am persuasive in prioritizing health systems challenges and empower people through health knowledge possession, which, therefore, will equitably improve the health of the population.
