About Maximilian

I am a first year psychology student studying at Sussex university. I have two years experience tutoring students in OCR GCSE psychology at my secondary school, however I will confidently tutor students from any exam board. I have studied psychology at GCSE, AS and A level, and can travel to any students in Brighton.

About the lesson

I am a very friendly, knowledgeable and adaptable tutor, with a student-focused teaching methodology. My goal with students is more than simply teaching the required content, but helping the student build a self-sustaining interest in the subject to help encourage independent revision. I achieved an A grade in GCSE, AS and A level psychology, and hold a wide base of subject knowledge derived from extensive reading, as I am driven by a strong passion for the subject. I love it when my students are passionate about the subject already, but if not, I'm sure they will be after a class or two with me! My teaching methodology is highly adaptable, as I believe every student is unique in the ways in which they best absorb and internalise information. I work mainly from the textbook in order to cover all core information needed for whatever exam the student is preparing for, but my wide knowledge base ensures that all my students will shoot above and beyond the specification, allowing them to achieve outstanding results by the time exams come around. As i see fit, I will also provide student-specific revision resources in the form of quizzes, flashcards and notes. In addition to this, I will provide unparalleled teaching of exam technique as I see necessary, from essay writing, paragraph structure and revision tactics, to scientifically endorsed techniques to stay calm in exam conditions. One particularly difficult topic which MANY students struggle with is the statistics side of psychology, but luckily for you, I also took an AS level statistics module, and am highly confident in my ability to teach the relevant mathematics in a simple and easy-to-grasp manner. As regards to myself, I am friendly, honest and, as my friends say, could probably maintain a conversation with a brick wall! Students often see me as both a tutor and a friend after spending a class with me, and this will always help them grasp information better, and removes their fear of asking questions (as is the problem for many shy students).

All lessons are £10 p/h, and If I am required to travel to you, I charge a £4 fee in order to cover travel expenses.
