About Julie PhD
Hello! I am a passionate Psychology tutor with a deep love for the "scary" side of the degree: Research Methods and Statistics. I understand that for many psychology students, the transition from learning theories to conducting actual data analysis can be overwhelming. The Australian university system places a heavy emphasis on independent research, and often, the support provided in tutorials just isn't enough to grasp the complexities of SPSS or the nuances of scientific writing. That is where I come in. With a strong background in Psychology and academic research, I have spent years mastering the art of academic communication. I view myself not just as a tutor, but as an academic mentor. I have successfully guided students from first-year undergraduates through to Honors and Postgraduate levels, helping them turn "Pass" level drafts into "High Distinction" submissions. My teaching philosophy is built on transparency and constructive criticism. I believe the best way to improve is to know exactly where you are losing marks before you hit submit. I have an eagle eye for detail—spotting inconsistencies in statistical reporting, weak operational definitions in methodology sections, or gaps in logic within a discussion. I am patient, approachable, and genuinely invested in your success. I know that SPSS can feel like learning a foreign language, and that receiving vague feedback from university staff is frustrating. I aim to provide the clarity you need to navigate your degree with confidence. If you are ready to conquer your statistics anxiety or want a professional set of eyes on your next major assignment, please reach out. Let’s get you the grades you deserve.

My lessons are designed to bridge the gap between confusing lecture slides and the high-quality work required to achieve a High Distinction (HD). I specialize in demystifying Quantitative Research Methods and elevating academic writing through rigorous, rubric-aligned feedback. 1. SPSS Data Analysis & Statistics Statistics anxiety is real, but I make it manageable. Whether you are struggling with data entry or interpreting complex output, I guide you through the entire process. I provide step-by-step coaching on: • Data Cleaning & Management: Variable view setup, recoding, and computing variables. • Descriptive & Inferential Statistics: From basic T-tests and Chi-Square to complex Factorial ANOVA, Multiple Regression, ANCOVA, and Mediation/Moderation analysis. • Syntax & Output: Understanding how to read the output window and report findings in strict APA 7th Edition format. 2. Academic Writing, Editing & Feedback I don't just proofread for grammar; I review your work exactly how a lecturer would. I offer comprehensive feedback and editing services for Lab Reports, Literature Reviews, Case Studies, Research Proposals, and Reflective Essays. My "Mock Marking" process involves: • Rubric Alignment: I audit your draft against your specific unit guide and marking rubric to ensure every criterion is met. • Critical Analysis: I help you strengthen your arguments, ensure logical flow, and improve the depth of your critical evaluation. • APA Formatting: Meticulous checking of in-text citations and reference lists to ensure perfect adherence to APA 7th standards. Whether you need a crash course in SPSS syntax or a final polish on your Fourth-Year Thesis, my goal is to give you the confidence to submit your best work.

An absolute legend of a tutor! Julie honestly made the scariest bit of my psych honours year, that massive 15,000-word thesis, feel way less overwhelming. She went through my draft with a fine-tooth comb, checking it properly against the task sheet and marking rubric, then gave me super clear, practical feedback. For every suggestion, she included spot-on recommendations plus example text, which totally lifted my research design, data analysis, and writing. Her careful help cut right through the stress and let me hand in a much stronger thesis. Cannot recommend her highly enough!
